We are alive

Last weekend Justin started coming down with a cold. We had made plans to go to a Wishing Start fundraiser but Justin was insistent that we go even though he was sick since it was my birthday weekend and my parents were keeping the boys for the entire weekend. Well we had a great time at the event with our friends Travis and Kristen. A grown up night with no kiddos. The sad thing was we were home and in bed by 10 and Justin barely got out of bed the rest of the weekend. A weekend with no kids and my husband was in bed sick. I dinked around on Saturday enjoying a day of shopping by myself and by Sunday was beginning to feel the pain that Justin was going through. The boys made it until Thursday morning to both get a fever and start in with the same fun. I took them in to the Dr because I was a little nervous about their breathing with Rex having asthma and Riley well on his way to the same diagnosis. Well the lung were clear but the boys tested positive for Influenza A and the Dr ensured me that if they tested positive and Justin and I still felt that terrible then we had it for sure as well. I don't ever remember being this sick before. Thankfully we caught it with the boys and they were able to take some medicine (tamaflu and something else) that made it shorter and less icky for them. They were still very sick boys. So it is Sunday a week later and I am finally going back to work tomorrow and Rex is back to school. I've never missed this much work just for my own illness before - ugh. Rex is very ready to go back to school and it will be good to get back in a normal routine. Well I'll stop whining now and share some pictures.

At some point during the week we caught Riley being funny and climbing in his drawer in the kitchen. It is where we keep his bowls and cups and he loves to get his own bowl for snacks. Well he decided it would also make a pretty good chair. The following day he climbed in and used it for a stool to reach something he wanted on the counter. Little stinker.

Wow looking at the counters and cabinets up close shows just how dirty and old they are. We are hoping to remodel the kitchen this year if money permits so keep your fingers crossed on that one.

He is getting quite demanding these days. For a month or better he has been running around say something that my friend Kacey swears is EAT S(*& Eat S(*& well lately I'm pretty sure that it is I SEE I See This last week while he was out at mom and dads he pushed his way into between my mom and the counter/stove while she was making dinner. After he gets wedged in there he says I SEE just a plain as can be. Now we hear I SEE I SEE for everything. He is nosey and wants to get a good view of everything that is going on.

Tonight we had a yummy dinner that my mom delivered for my birthday. It took us a week to actually want the promised ham and cheesy potatoes but mom delivered them today with a fruit salad and we had a feast. Riley loves Gramma's cheesy spuds too and is getting pretty good at poking his food and scooping with his fork. I was amazed at how he was able to chase the blueberry around and finally capture it with his fork. He still doesn't finish the entire meal with his fork unless you watch him constantly but he is getting better all the time.

Cousins come to play

Justin's brother and family stopped to see us on their way to Montana to visit family. It was a quick stop but it was great to see them. We were able to meet our new nephew that was born in December. He is beautiful and keeps his parents on their toes. He defiantly rules the house with big sister. With Cecelia Rose just over 1 and Trent Jr. at 2 months it is an understatement to stay that Trent and his wife Liz are exhausted. Riley and CeCe had a wonderful time "playing" It was super cute to see them. They are close to the same size and didn't quite know why the other kept touching their toys.

Where did my baby go?????

I have been a very bad blogger lately. So much has happened and time has slipped by. Last weekend Riley and I took a road trip to Billings, MT to take my niece and her friend to visit the college that Justin and I attended. While we were there Riley and I stayed with some our wonderful friends Brian and Christine and their 4 kids. Christine and I had a great visit and Riley had so much fun having all those kids to play with.

Brian's little sister Lyndsey is a cosmetologist and since Riley was in need of his first haircut we thought it would be fun to have her cut Riley's hair. When I think back to when I first met Lyndsey she was about 10 or so and Brian and Christine were getting married. Now she is an adult with a career and I feel old when I think about it. Not only has Lyndsey become a grown up she has become a wonderful one. She is truly a beautiful person inside and out. I can't quite describe it but she just oozes fun and love. She not only found what she wanted to do for a living but she is wonderful at it. I just wish I lived closer so she could fix my do. She did a great job with Riley. I wasn't quite sure what she would be able to do with his strange baby fine hair that grew in funny lengths. Two bags of fruit snacks and a lollipop did the trick and Riley sat semi still and ta da - my baby is gone and I have a toddler.

Fun with Friends!

Not totally crazy in the head!

I'm guessing that those of you who know me in real life might debate that statement but my Dr did confirm that I'm not totally nuts. On the flip side I am totally hormonally unbalanced. I think I was relieved to get the test results back.

Evidently I am ridiculously low on vitamin D. There isn't enough sun in the world to get me up to "normal" so I have started a RX strength Vitamin that I'll take for 3 months and then hopefully I'll be able to just use a over the counter supplement. I have also started taking Seasonix birth control pills and hopefully they will even out the hormone issues. I'm investigating a endometrial ablation. From what I understand it has had a lot of success and about 60% of women don't have a period after the procedure. Lot of women use it as a way to deal with crazy cycles with out hormone pills or hysterectomy. I think it is all worth considering at this point.

I'm not really sure what the exact fix was but I'm starting to feel better. At least I haven't bitten any one's head off in well over a week. I did throw a quick vacation (long weekend) in the middle so I'm guessing that helped to.

Ah better days are on the way :-)

Another week at the Kibbe house........

Well we survived yet another week. It didn't go exactly as planned but when does it. Riley ended up sick and what we thought was a simple cold turned into RSV. That was a new germ for our house. After he was feeling a bit better I caught a few pictures while he was enjoying his favorite... a peanut butter sandwich. Usually he just inhales it but today he just played with it.

My niece Cheyenne stayed with us on Friday. She was trying to get some homework done and Rex climbed up next to her to work on his coloring. It was very cute to watch. Both the boys love their cousin Chey Chey.

Random Thoughts for a Tuesday

Well I've been getting a lot of grief for not blogging lately so I thought I would take a stab at it tonight. I unfortunately don't have new pictures to share because I've been too busy, tired or lazy to take them.

To be completely honest I haven't been blogging much because I haven't had much nice to say. I think that I'm possibly a couple steps away from the padded room and the men with white coats.

I have had issues with depression in the past but nothing quite like this. I have changed pills, added pills, ranted and raved, slept, prayed and gone to church and cried. Seriously nothing gets rid of this icky feeling and the roller coaster of emotions that seem to jump from tears to rage in about 3 seconds flat. A friend of mine keeps encouraging me to see a professional to get my head sh rinked and the thought of adding one more appointment or medical bill to my life makes me ill.

My doctor ordered blood work to look at all of my hormones. It will be interesting to see if this is something caused by wacky hormone levels. I know that it is possible to have wacky hormones but seriously I'm only 32. Don't you need to be old or going through menopause to have hormone issues.

I knew I was bad when Justin nicely tells me that he has recorded Oprah for me. She had a whole show on hormone replacement therapy.

By blogging buddy Elasta Mom shared the quote below a while back.

We can either watch life from the sidelines, or actively participate...Either we let self-doubt and feelings of inadequacy prevent us from realizing our potential, or embrace the fact that when we turn our attention away from ourselves, our potential is limitless.

—Christopher Reeve

I feel a bit like I have taken a time out from the game. I know the plays and want to be on the court with my team but feel like I'm just going through the motions.

I came across this picture of Rex feeding Riley. I love how he looks so proud of himself, and Rex looks so little to me too. Rex is such a good big brother and loves Riley so much.
