On Mothers Day we went out to see my mom and dad. They only live about 40 miles away but it had been ages since were out. I see my mom all the time because she is in town often but we hadn't headed that way so we thought we'd take the boys out to see Gramma and Grampa and enjoy a beautiful sunny day. Justin and Rex had fun golfing out on the front lawn and my dad took Riley for a tractor ride on the little wheel tractor. I guess Riley was all for it until he started the engine. I had to post the picture of my dad and his lovely cigar just to bug my mom and little and because most people know I work for the American Cancer Society - yes I know second hand smoke it terrible but hey, what do you do, its Grammpa and he isn't going to change and this point.

It was a very relaxing day. No matter how old I get or what my own family is up too, that will always be home. It is huge old farm house that welcomes everyone in. Maybe its more about the people and memories in it.

Spokane Guild School

Riley goes to school at the Spokane Guild School. It is an amazing place and we have been very fortunate that Riley has been able to received all of his therapies there. He started back when he was 10 weeks old and this last September he moved into a toddler group where he attends twice a week. They not only have circle time and snack time like a regular preschool but he is also able to receive his PT, OT and Speech therapies. The most amazing part of this school is that it is a nonprofit and is able to help families that would not be able to afford treatment any other way. They work with each family to make sure that you can comfortably afford the co pays and other therapy cost. I know our insurance runs out after just 40 visits so to be able to find a payment that our family can afford is huge. This evening our family was invited to join a group of donors to for a reception to say thank you. They like to have a family of a current student so the donors and board members can really see how the school impacts a real family. Riley did a great job of performing and making everyone laugh. He even shared a little Wheels on the Bus with everyone. Riley loves to talk to everyone and has no fear of strangers so he was right in his element tonight. When I wouldn't let him have a cookie he even laid down on the floor to pout. I think he showed everyone that he is a total two year old.

Before we left I was able to catch a couple pictures of the kids. They weren't totally interested in having their picture taken but I tried.

You can find more information about the Spokane Guild School at www.guildschool.org

Wordy Wednesday

After the boys bath tonight we put Signing Times on for Riley. It is still about the only show he likes to watch and it buys us a few minutes of knowing exactly where he is. He hears the theme song come on and he gets all excited and starts signing along. Well tonight as Justin and I watched him we were both totally amazed. He was signing things when they showed the object but before the demonstrated the sign. Really random signs like bread. We certainly have spent time getting him to sign bread. I think the only place he sees it is on the video. So he continued to sign along with the video so Rex and I started making a list of all of the signs he knows......we are up to 41 so far. That seems like so many. Back in November I posted about how much his vocabulary was developing so I went back to that post to check and he had 14 signs on November 12th. Seems like a lot progress to me in a little over 5 months.

If you haven't checkout Signing Times you really should. They are fun videos that both of my boys love. Justin's family bought Riley a huge set of videos and cd's for his birthday and he absolutely loves them. It amazes me how many signs he knows just from watching the videos.

Tag Team Tuesday

Tag Team Tuesday

Ok, here's a little Tag Team fun on Tuesday! Thanks to P.C.S. (Polymer Clay Snails) for starting this little game of tag!! Check out her blog...she's way cool!

I was tagged by Elasta Mom - you should check her out her blog is fun and honest.

What’s your current obsession?
HMM I don't think I have an obsession. Well maybe I'm obsessed with finding a Dr that will figure out what the heck is wrong with me and fix it.

If you could do any job in the world and know you’d be 100% successful, what would it be?

Stay at home mom. I'm so tired of going to an office.

What are you wearing today?
Brown shirt with little sparkles at the neck, jeans and fit flops. Soon to be changing into my shorts and tshirt to play softball.

Why is today special?
I have my first softball game on this crazy women's team that Kacey (Ella Grace) convinced me to join. It has been a hoot so far but I'm hoping for no public humiliation tonight.

What would you like to learn to do?
Arrange flowers and any other crafty fun thing that I'm no good at. Be organized:-)

What’s for dinner tonight?
Well maybe a Peanut Butter sandwich as I drive to my softball game who knows what Justin will come up with the kids. Rex's soccer practise is later than my game so he is in charge there.

What’s the last thing you bought?
Shorts and t's for Rex and the cutest little pair of plaid shoes from Gymboree for Riley. I can't believe they are actually too small and I have to take them back.

What are you listening to right now?
Justin and Rex playing Indiana Jones Lego on the Wii. Thank goodness it has to go back to Hastings soon.

What’s your most challenging goal?
Figuring out the depression/hormonal imbalance so I can get on with sorting out all the other things like weight loss and exercise. I'm so tired of being tired and grumpy all the time. UGH

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
I love her blog and think she is an amazing mom with a huge amount of patience. She needs to loosen up and not be so critical of herself cause she is amazing, beautiful and a wonderful mom.

If you could have your house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere, where would it be?
Around Spokane but in a different school district for Riley.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
Oregon Coast.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
Tons and tons of money so I didn't have to worry about bills, or Riley's future.

What would you like to get rid of?
About 100 pounds of goo from all over my body.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
To sleep!

What super power would you like to possess?
HMM, I would love to be able to zap myself places so it didn't feel like I was always driving in circles.

What’s your favorite piece of clothing?
Any thing comfy.

What is your dream job?
I don't have a dream job cause I don't want to work. I want to stay home and play with the kids all day.

$150---what would you spend it on?
Paying some sort of Dr's bill I'm sure.

What do you find annoying?
Dishonest fake people. Chewing ice and stupid drivers.........should I continue

Describe your personal style.
Casual

Whose closet you would want to raid?
Any one's Mine is so boring and icky that anything would have to be an improvement.

What are you most proud of?
My kiddos. They are amazing!

Plus I'm proud of myself for joining a softball team. It is a nice baby step to exercise.

Ok so I'm supposed to make up a question but I totally blank. I've wasted enough time trying to think of something interesting to share but I guess I'm not very interesting this evening. So if you have another question you want answered send it on over and I'll answered them all. :-)

7 bloggers I’d like to know about:
My cousins - Amy and Debbie
Good Enough Mama
Tommy's Update
Casa de la Tonteria - Bean's mom
Danita - Ruff Life
Kacey -Ella Grace with the Pretty Face
Three Channels

Now the rules of this tag:
1. Respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own invention.
2. Tag 7 other people you would love to learn more about.

When I started this blog my goal was to share Riley and our family's journey. I think that sharing this video is a wonderful way to honor my 100th post. Riley has been learning so much lately and signing more and more spontaneously. He loves music, so circle time at school is his very favorite. Here are a couple of his favorite songs. You will have to forgive the horrible singing in the background.

Since I started this blog I have made new friends and really found a stress reliever for all the craziness of my life. I hope that just one family finds our story when they fine out they are having/had a child with Down syndrome and discovers that everything really will be OK. While there are days of doubt, fear, anxiety and sadness - for every one of those emotions there will be a day of joy, happiness and laughter. You will discover more about yourself, your faith and your friends than you ever thought possible.

This evening the boys were hanging out playing some video games. Riley loves to be right in the middle of everything. He is usually half a step behind his big Bubba Rex.

Rex's big day.

Rex had a big day today. It started early when Gramma picked him up and they headed off to Grandparents Day at school. They had breakfast and then went to mass. It was quite a to do since the Bishop said mass. After mass the kids had a special performance for their guests and sang Yankee Doodle and another song that Rex said was hard but couldn't or wouldn't tell me the name. Gramma reports that it was a great morning. Rex's version tells me they had fun but they had green milk for breakfast and it tasted funny.

Riley was not as excited that Gramma and Bubba were leaving him behind. He gets very sad when he gets left behind. He loves to be outside. It is so easy to get him out the door in them morning when you tell him it is time to go bye bye he gets his coat and brings it over and is all ready to roll.

After he got home from school he was sitting around wiggling his loose tooth and then decided it was coming out. So he proceeded to pull his top front tooth. I love the toothless grin. It cracks me up that Rex just lost the same tooth that we were so excited finally broke through for Riley. My little snagle tooth is growing up. He finally has all four front tooth. It only tooth 2 1/2 years to do it.
